British singer-songwriter Roo Panes will release his new album The Summer Isles on 24 March on Leafy Outlook. Most of the album was recorded at Basement Studios in Wimborne, UK. All songs were mastered by Alex Wharton at Abbey Road Studios.
The summer isles is a collection of songs from the last year and a half. All of them in some way represent an island or refuge, or a great memory bottled up. Much of the album touches on the theme of childhood and innocent wonder. And the musical aspects vary in colours from instrumental tracks to snapshot lyrical narratives. There’s also a backbone of adventure behind it all, as it all began on a whim with a road trip to the Scottish isles, and moved organically from there. Panes describes his style as soft, soulful folk that can be a soundtrack to perfect summer nights. Panes about the album: “The Summer Isles has been such a natural process, moving between the totally familiar and the adventurous new. Both in sound and lyrical concept. As a whole it’s about the “glowing islands” that have kept me afloat these last years. People I love, memories that bring me joy, some reflections I like to live in, some longings yet to be fulfilled.”
Andrew (Roo) Panes is garnering fame for his participation in a Burberry campaign, in which he is seen both as a model and an artist. Since releasing his debut album Little Giant (2014) to critical acclaim, the Dorset-based artist has gone from strength to strength as a songwriter and performer, quietly honing his crac while his music has gradually won over a constantly-evolving global fanbase, with in excess of 400 million plays on Spotify and over 33 million views on Youtube to date. A new phase of life and songwrirting took shape through 2021 and has led to a collection of beautiful releases, culminating in the much anticipated, stunning Nightjar and the Nightingale EP, released on April 1st 2022.
